Dog-friendly hotels in Bournemouth: 10 pet-welcoming stays for 2026

Bournemouth is a dog-owner destination if you know two things: which stretch of the 7-mile beach lets dogs off-lead when, and which hotels genuinely welcome dogs rather than tolerating them for a £30 fee. This roundup covers both.

Beach dog rules you need to know.

From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are banned on the main 3-mile stretch of Bournemouth Beach between Alum Chine and Boscombe Pier from 10:00 to 18:00. Outside those hours, dogs are permitted on-lead. Southbourne and Hengistbury Head allow dogs year-round without restriction. Sandbanks Beach is dog-friendly all year. In practice: if you want a beach stay with a dog in July, base yourself in Southbourne or Sandbanks, not on West Cliff.

How we chose these 10.

We rank on five criteria: pet fee under £30 per stay (not per night), ground-floor or patio-access rooms available, in-room dog bed and bowl provided, walking distance to a dog-permitted beach or open space, and a pub within 300 metres that welcomes dogs at tables.

The 10 dog-friendly picks.
