East Cliff is the quieter side of the pier. Russell-Cotes art gallery sits on the clifftop, the promenade continues east to Boscombe Pier (35 minutes on foot), and the hotels are generally smaller and older than their West Cliff cousins. If you want quiet and don’t need a pool, go East.
What East Cliff is.
The corridor runs along Manor Road and East Overcliff Drive. Older independent hotels dominate (Miramar, Britannia Carlton, Cumberland), most refurbished at least once in the last decade but not all to the same standard. Ask reservations which floor a room is on before you book if a sea view matters. Bournemouth Pier is 8 to 12 minutes on foot from most East Cliff addresses.
