  • West Cliff. Family hotels, outdoor pools, the cliff-lift and the Zig-Zag path to the beach. Straight walk to Alum Chine’s tropical gardens. Closer to the BIC conference centre than any other neighbourhood. Typical rates £140 to £320 per night.
  • East Cliff. Quieter side of the pier. Russell-Cotes museum on the clifftop, smaller independent hotels (Miramar, Carlton, Cumberland), promenade walk to Boscombe. Typical rates £120 to £260.
  • Town centre. Bournemouth Square, Lower Gardens, the pier entrance. Best for short-stay city breaks, hen weekends, conference attendees. Chain hotels dominate: Hilton, Premier Inn, Travelodge. Typical rates £90 to £200.
  • Boscombe. Bohemian art-deco streets, surf reef, independent kitchens. Smaller boutique stays, cheaper than West Cliff, better food. Typical rates £100 to £220.
  • Southbourne. Quiet family end. Cliff-top walks, dog-friendly beach year-round, Hengistbury Head at the far end. Typical rates £100 to £200.
